Une caisse américaine c'est un tirage collé sur un support rigide en aluminium (dibond de 3mm) fixé au fond d'un profilé en bois ou en aluminium.

Le tirage peut être surélevé par rapport au fond du profilé, on parle alors de tirage flottant.
